Bayou La Batre's Blessing of the Fleet

Join the 45th annual parade of fishing vessels to receive blessings in honor of the start of the shrimp season.  This tradition dates back centuries offering prayers for an abundant season and protection for the fisherman.  The festivities include mass at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, a blessing ceremony, displays of skilled craftsman and a wide array of coastal food specialties.
