The 30th annual Taste of the Bayou will be held in conjunction with the 4th annual Alabama Seafood Cook-Off (ASCO) Wednesday, June 13th in Bayou La Batre. Guests will have the opportunity to sample four varieties of fresh seafood while four top chefs from around the state compete for the ASCO title. This is your chance to enjoy shrimp, oysters, crab and gumbo fresh from the Gulf. Plus, there will be delicious dessert – Pecan Praline Bread Pudding!!
The chef’s who will be competing for title include:
- Chef Jeremy Downey of Bistro V in Birmingham
- Chef Jeremiah Matthews of Southwood Kitchen in Daphne
- Chef Jason Ramirez of Villaggio Grille in Orange Beach
- Chef Scott Simpson of The Depot in Auburn
The four Alabama seafood chefs will be competing not just for statewide glory but a chance to represent our state on the national stage at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off(GASCO) in New Orleans this August. And similarly to recent years, our winner will also be an automatic qualifier for the 2018 World Food Championships at The Wharf in Orange Beach this November.
The Celebration of Taste of the Bayou will be held at the Bayou La Batre Community Center from 6 to 9pm. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at www.tasteofthebayou.org.
